Colorful Eyeshadow Palettes Part 2

Slush Eyeshadow Palette
September Rose Cosmetics Slush Eyeshadow Palette ($36.86)

This one has been out for a while, but I decided to put it on this list anyway.  I really like how you get five rows in a spectrum from light to dark.  Unlike a lot of rainbow palettes, this one will be easy to get a variety of looks.  You get a shimmer/matte and light/dark variety.

Colourpop She's a Rainbow Palette
ColourPop She's a Rainbow Palette ($40)

Like the previous palette, you get a variety of shades in an easy to use format.  $40 is pricey for ColourPop, but there company is held in high esteem so this palette will probably sell out pretty quickly.  ColourPop's products are nice quality.

Pastel Princess Palette
Love Luxe Cosmetics Pastel Princess Palette ($35)

I'm a sucker for pastels.  I always buy the pastel palettes and I usually find myself being disappointed.  This has found it's way on my wishlist just by putting the word pastel in the title.  The swatches of this palette seem to suggest the shades might actually pack some pigment.  There is a mix of matte and shimmers, with the yellow being a duo chrome.  This isn't the only thing from Love Luxe that I want.  I'm so excited.

Sugarpill Fun Size Palette
Sugarpill Fun Size Palette ($28)

Sugarpill is quite famous for their matte shades.  This palette holds a smaller pan size when compared to their standard shades.  This palette provides a variety of matte rainbow shades.  I personally will be skipping this one.  There isn't enough blue or shimmer to attract my attention.

Glamlite Paint Palette
Glamlite Paint Palette ($45)

I saved this giant paint palette shaped palette for last.  This limited edition palette is on pre-order right now.  There is a row of shimmers surrounded by a larger row of mattes.  The colors or pretty, but I don't think there is anything I don't already have.  As an artist I love the fun shape, but I would imagine this could be hard to store later.  While I'm not sure this palette is for me, I include it for everyone who might like it.

Jeffree Star Blue Bloods Dupes

Blue is one of my favorite colors.  I love popping on a bit of blue eyeshadow.  I've probably mentioned this before, but I love coordinating my eyeshadow to match what I'm wearing and I wear a lot of blue.

When I heard Jeffree Star was releasing a collection of blue eyeshadows, I was excited.  Then, I saw the palette.  Honestly, only about half the shadows could be considered blue and the palette is $52.  I'm not going to use it that much.  So, here are some cheaper alternatives, most of which I own.  So if you want the blue without parting with too much doe, look no further.
Revolution Forever Flawless Ice
Revolution Forever Flawless Ice Palette ($15)

At first glance, this $15 might be mistaken for the Blue Bloods palette.  This palette has some overlap, but it isn't exactly the same.  I actually like the colors in this palette better.  It's one of the few palettes on this list that I don't actually own, but I kind of want it.

Kara Beauty Smokey Blue Eyeshadow Palette
Kara Beauty ES22 Smokey Blue Eyeshadow Palette ($25)

This was the first blue palette that I bought.  I actually got this one for Christmas.  I really like this palette.  It's all matte shades and do prefer shimmers.  This blue palette is part of a set of 4.  The other three are neutral toned palettes.  You can get all four palettes as a set for a reduced rate, but the link above takes you to the link for the palette pictured above.
LA Colors Blue Denim
LA Colors Blue Denim ($3)

These shadows are blue and blue-gray shades.  This tiny palette has a lot of power.  You can mix these shadows together to get a variety of different tones.  This palette is also completely matte.  The darker shadows can be a little stiff and difficult to use, but it isn't unusable.  I would definitely repurchase this palette again.  It is well worth the price tag.

Note:  I purchased this from Dollar General.  I think I paid about $1.50.  The $3 price is pulled from the official website.

Colourpop Blue Moon Palette
Colourpop Blue Moon Palette ($12)

This is my latest addition to my palette collection.  I haven't gotten to use all the colors yet, but I look forward to get all of them.  I love these colors and the price tag is incredibly great.  The shadows are great quality and I found them easy to work with.

BH Cosmetics Mini Zodiac: Aquarius
BH Cosmetics Mini Zodiac: Aquarius ($14)
https://www.bhcosmetics.com/products/mini-zodiac-aquarius

This has a mix of blues and neutrals.  It also has a mix of mattes and shimmers.  I don't own this palette, but I do have a lot of palettes from BH cosmetics.  I like BH.  I think they make good quality makeup for a great price.  They often have sales, so you probably won't end up having to spend full price.  This palette is pretty, but I don't think I need this on top of all the other palettes I have.

Best Powder Foundation? Maybelline SuperStay Full Coverage Powder Foundation

Maybelline SuperStay Full Coverage 16H Powder Foundation

I have long been a fan of powder foundation.  In my opinion, they tend to more natural looking than many liquid foundations I have tried.  Powders tend to be more on the matte side, which I prefer.  I honestly don't know why people seem to prefer liquid foundations.  I have recently picked up a beautiful, wonderful powder.

I was at Walmart when I spotted the Maybelline SuperStay Full Coverage 16H Foundation.  Of course, I had to take it home with me.  I'm never someone too bypass something from Maybelline.  And I have been in love with this powder foundation since I first tried it.

I used the old Maybelline Dream foundation until Maybelline replaced it with the new Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder.  The new Dream powder foundation has better coverage, but the older powders had a better shade range.  The new Dream powder just didn't have a shade for me.  The newer SuperStay foundation is by far my favorite powder foundation of the three.

The SuperStay has amazing coverage and has a wonderful matte finish.  The new powder has a shade light enough for my skin tone and I love the way it looks on the skin.  I highly recommend this powder for anyone who likes a good powder foundation.  The biggest drawback of this foundation is that it can go on a bit too heavy and look extremely thick.

Maybelline SuperStay Full Coverage 16H Powder Foundation

I've also tried this powder as a setting powder for liquid foundations.  With the thickness of this powder, it can look a bit too much when you put it over something else.  It's a good idea not to go in too heavy handed with this product, but I think it works well setting makeup.  I've used this over great liquids and seen it do a great job.  I've also used this over terrible liquids and seen it not do so well.  As a setting powder, it's only as good as what you're working with and I think that's very normal.  As a plus, I feel like using this as a setting powder does give you a little extra coverage if that's what you're looking for.

Maybelline makes some pretty steep claims with this product.  The label makes claims like full coverage and 16 hour wear times.  I don't know how I feel about these claims.

The coverage on this is fantastic, probably the best I've ever seen in a powder, but I'm not really sure you can say it is full coverage.  Still the coverage is great and probably the sole reason I'm so in love with this product.  The coverage is also the reason I'm giving this such a high recommendation.

As for the 16 hour wear time, I'm pretty sure that means up too 16 hours.  I don't know if I'm willing to believe that this product is going to last that long.  The 24 hour stick foundation from Maybelline does a fantastic job of staying put, no matter what.  So if you're looking for something with a long wear time, that's what I recommend.  This powder works like basically every other powder I've ever used.  I haven't really seen any SuperStaying powers with this, or any other, powder.

In summary, I really like this product.  This is great on it's own or if you think your setting powder needs to give your liquid foundation a little boost.  This product has single handedly made me fall in love with powder foundation all over again.  I really did think I was done with powder foundations forever until this came along.

The Amazing LA Colors Matte Eyeshadow Quints

LA Colors Matte Eyeshadows

In short, I loved these.  They were worth every penny and probably more.  I believe I paid $2.50 for these at Dollar General, but I'm not sure.  They are listed at $3.00 on the website.  I picked up two of these quints.  I have Black Lace and Blue Denim.

LA Colors Matte Eyeshadows in Black Lace and Blue Denim

Both of these are beautiful and perform really well.  I was actually greatly surprised at how excellently these performed.  All the colors were absolutely beautiful and unique.  Looking at the blue palette, I thought three of the colors looked more grayscale.  I really thought some of these colors would overlap because of that, but that isn't the case.  These are five shades of blue and five shades of gray.

The shadows are soft and easy to use and blend.  I actually like these more than some higher end mattes that I've tried.  I might actually like these more than the Kat Von D matte eyeshadow formula (and that's saying a lot).  The exception to this is the middle shade in the blue palette and the fourth shade (the second T) in the Black Lace palette.  These two shadows were a lot harder than their softer counterparts.  However, once you get past the surface these two shadows did become a lot softer.  These two shades weren't quite as soft as the others, but they are still really nice.

Overall, all of these shades did a really good job and I still highly recommend these palettes.  Like I said earlier, they are well worth the price you pay for them.

LA Colors Matte Eyeshadow in Black Lace
This might sound strange, but I wish there was more variety in this palette.  I like the shades.  I've actually created several different looks with just five colors, but some of these shades are really similar.  The second and third shades (the A and first T) are really similar.  I feel like the last two shades (the second T and E) look basically the same when applied.  I wish the Second T was slightly lighter while the E shade looked more like the Second T.  I think that would've created a better ombre.  And/or perhaps the middle shade could've been just a smidgen darker.  Remember that you can easily blend these shades together, which I have actually done.

LA Colors Matte Eyeshadow in Blue Denim
Twice I swatched these shades on my hand and took pictures.  Twice they came out incredibly blurry. I'm sorry about that.  These shades are really pretty.  The first and middle shades are beautiful gray-blue shades.  The middle shade is a gorgeous baby blue.  The forth shade is a beautiful sky blue and the final shade is a navy.  I love blue eyeshadows and I love being able to play with these some more.

Again, sorry it's so blurry.

Stila Little White Lie

Stila Little White Lies
I found these while I was wandering around today.  I was looking for Stila's new liquid eyeshadows, but I found these instead.  They may look white, but they amazingly transform into pastel shades once you use them.

Stila Little White Lies
L to R:  Mint Myth, Lilac Legend, Peach Pretense,
Fuchsia Fiction, Yellow Tales, and  Pink Wink Wink

  • Mint Myth is a beautiful mint shade.  I felt like this shade switched the best in person.
  • Lilac Legend is a soft lilac color that almost looked blue from certain angles.
  • Peach Pretense is a soft orangey shade.
  • Fuchsia Fiction is a pink with purple glitter in it.
  • Yellow Tales is a soft yellow.
  • Pink Wink Wink is a true, baby pink.

I absolutely loved these.  I feel like the swatches don't really do them justice.  In person, they didn't look quite that sheer.  I absolutely love pastels and if I wasn't trying to cut down on the amount of makeup I buy, I would seriously consider picking up a few shades.  My absolute favorite choices were Mint Myth, Lilac Legend, and Peach Pretense.

Mint is one of my favorite colors and I'm seriously considering buying the color regardless of anything else.  These are fairly pricey at $24 a piece and I'm trying to remind myself that I barely use the liquid eyeshadows I already own.

I feel like in the photo Lilac Legend and Fuchsia Fiction look extremely similar, but in person Fuchsia Fiction and Pink Wink Wink were almost identical.  The only difference in those two shades are the fact Fuchsia Fiction has a bit of a duochromeness to it.  There is a bit of pink and purple in that shade.

I didn't try these over a base, but I've been informed that these are meant to be used over a base of some kind as a shadow transformer.  I think these would be beautiful for that.

Stila Little White Lies Heavenly Highlighting Palette

While I didn't photograph it, I also tried the highlighter trio that came out as part of this collection.  The highlighters looked white and each had it's own sparkle.  There was a pink one, a yellow one, and a blue one.  The putty type highlighters were very disappointing.  I definitely didn't think they were worth the $45 price tag.  The highlighters only managed to give a small amount of sparse glitter on the back of my hand.  I didn't see how anyone could like them and I felt like they would be a bit of a hassle to apply.

Top Makeup Products of 2018

I came up with three rules going into this.  The first was that I had to have bought the product in the past two years, secondly it had to be something I’ve used enough to form an opinion (nothing brand new), and third of all I to honestly enjoy the product.  I’ve included products that I haven’t used recently, but these are all products I’ve loved this year.

Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Foundation, Revlon Photoready,
and Maybelline Matte and Poreless

The Maybelline Matte and Poreless Foundation has been my go to.  I’ve really enjoyed using this liquid foundation this year. I believe this is one of the lightest shades.

I’ve ever used.  This is important as I’m extremely fair skinned. I like the coverage and I like how matte this foundation is. I don’t like any shine or sparkle in my face products.

The other foundation I’ve really liked this year is the Maybelline Superstay 24-Hour Foundation Stick.  I got this when it was first released, but it’s only been recently that I’ve used it. This stuff has great coverage and really knows how to stay put.  It went through a cry test when I went through a particularly bad breakup and the makeup held its ground. The attached sponge is pure crap, but the makeup is good.  I’m not sure it’s really worth its $11.99 price tag unless you need something that is next level fantastic.

The Revlon Photoready Translucent Powder has been well loved.  I’ve almost hit pan on the product. This was the first time I’d seen a translucent powder in a pan and I really liked how convenient it is.  I think the product does its job. The product has a light amount of shimmer in it that doesn’t show up when applied.

L'Oreal Galaxy Stick, Covergirl Peach Palette, and Jordana Triple Play in Petal Pink

The Covergirl Peach Palette has seen a lot of use from me.  I’ve used the blush and highlight, but I haven’t really used the other shade.  I absolutely hate the smell of this. The peach scent is incredibly too strong.  The highlighter is a beautiful duochrome. This isn’t the usual highlighter shade I would wear, but I still really like this.  There’s something unique but still natural about it. I don’t usually wear natural highlighters, but I feel this one is something special.  I also like using these two as eyeshadow. I usually put the blush on the crease and outer corner with the highlighter going in the middle and inner corner.  This highlight is easily sheered out on the cheek bones or built up on the lids. This is a nice, multi-use product.

Covergirl Peach Highlighter Palette (left) and Jordana Triple Play in Petal Pink (right)

The Jordana Triple Play in Petal Pink is a great color.  I feel like this is really similar to the blush in Covergirl and one person probably doesn’t need both.  This product is supposed to be good for use on the eyes, cheeks, and lips. I’ve never used this on the eyes, but I like using this on the lips.  More than anything, I like using this on the cheeks.

L'Oreal Infallible Galaxy Stick in Astro Blue (left)
and Covergirl Peach Highlighter Palette (right)

The L’Oreal Infallible Galaxy Stick in Astro Blue.  This stick highlighter is a duochrome in blue and purple.  The highlighter is beautiful and incredibly intense. I’ve liked this highlighter since I first bought it and I’ve seriously considered buying the other two colors.

Too Faced Angel Tears, Fairy Tears, Unicorn Tears, Mermaid Tears and Mac Lavender Jade

There are five lipsticks that I’ve really enjoyed this year.  Four of them are from Too Faced: Angel Tears, Fairy Tears, Unicorn Tears, and Mermaid Tears.  I also really like the Mac shade Lavender Jade which I got for my birthday. The Mac shade is a beautiful and intense purple.  All five of these lipsticks are worth the price.
