I decided to photograph all of my Maybelline lip products. I photographed all but my solitary Maybelline lipgloss and my 14 Hour Lipstick in Perpetual Peony.
Maybelline makes my favorite lip products. I think they feel comfortable on the lips and remain comfortable over a great period of time. They have an excellent color selection. You can pick the Color Sensational ones up for about $5.50 at Target and Wal-Mart. (prices may vary by location)
Maybelline Pinks and Vivids (Brazen Berry, Hot Plum, Neon Red, Shocking Coral, Pink Pop, Pink Me Up, Fuchsia Fever, Pink and Proper, Pink Sand) |
I have four of the pinks and five of the vivids.
PINKS (right to left)
Pink Sand is a light, reddish-pink with silver glitter and gives your lips a healthy, natural glow. It is one of my favorite Maybelline lipsticks. I recently replaced my old one, though I probably should have replaced it years ago. This was one of my favorite lipsticks in high school.
Pink and Proper is a medium reddish-pink with silver glitter. This isn't one that I wear very often and I don't really think the color looks good with my skin tone.
Fuchsia Fever is a beautiful blue-toned pink with subtle shimmer. It's not one I get a chance to wear often. How often do you get to wear shades like that?
Pink Me Up is one of my least favorite Maybelline lipsticks. It's a dusty, muted pink. It doesn't have any shimmer and I've always found this one particularly creamy. I accidentally took a chunk out of it a few years ago.
VIVIDS (right to left)
Pink Pop is a blue-toned pink. It's one of my favorite Maybelline lipsticks.
Shocking Coral is a pinkish-orange.
Neon Red looks really red in the tube but when worn is somewhat sheer looks more like a reddish-orange. I love wearing this one with a clear gloss.
Hot Plum is a dark pinkish-purple with a sheer quality. This was one of my go to colors last fall.
Brazen Berry is a darker purple but like Neon Red and Hot Plum it is a little on the sheer side. It is one I've only recently added to my collection.
Maybelline Pearls and Petal Rebels (Coral Burst, Orchid Ecstacy, Lilac Flush, Power Peony, Hibiscus Pop, Petal Pink, Peach Poppy, Bubblegum Bloom, Twinkle) |
PEARLS (discontinued)
Twinkle is a sheer light pink with silver glitter. It, like Pink Sand, gives the lips a healthy glow. This was one of my favorite lipsticks in high school. I photographed an unused backup I have and once it's gone, it'll be gone forever. Unless I can find the elusive dupe I've been looking for forever.
PETAL REBELS (right to left)
Bubblegum Bloom is limited edition. It's an extremely sheer, light baby pink. I think it's meant to be mixed in with other shades as it can not be worn by itself. It reminds me of a less opaque version of Revlon's Cupcake.
Peach Poppy is a light peach toned lipstick. Peach lipsticks make beautiful nude shades for people with fare skin because of their orange undertones.
Petal Pink is a pastel pink. It's my favorite from the Petal Rebels line and one of my favorite lipsticks of all time.
Hibiscus Pop is a slightly darker pastel pink. It's beautiful but it doesn't get as much wear as the others.
Power Peony is light pinky-purple. I don't wear this one much but I have no idea why I don't reach for this one more.
Lilac Flush is a pastel lilac shade. I really like this one. I have several lilac shades like this, this one isn't as opaque and because of that it is more of a 'natural looking' light purple shade.
Orchid Ecstasy is a darker purple with a more sheer quality. It's in the Hot Plum and Brazen Berry family. I really don't think anyone needs all three.
Coral Burst is an coral shade as the name would suggest. I got it because I thought it would be a more coral and less pink coral. My other coral, the Vivids' Shocking Coral, is more pink toned. Shocking Coral is slightly more pink toned; however, they are nearly identical and I don't think anyone needs both.
MATTES
Clay Crush is a medium nude shade. I believe this may be my only nude lipstick. Nude isn't a shade of lipstick I often wear. I saw a friend of mine wearing this and it just looked so beautiful on her. It was slightly darker than her skin tone and she rocked it like a statement lip shade. I knew I could do that too.
Blushing Pout is a soft baby pink and almost appears brownish or purplish in certain lights. It is one of the most unique lipsticks in my collection and I absolutely love it.
Ravishing Rose is a medium dusty pink. I bought this because several reviews I read described it as a bright, Barbie-pink. It's really not that bright or Barbie-like. It came out with original collection and it's not really one I care for.
Pink Sugar is a pink shade with a coral undertone. It's not a color I'd recommend for tanner skin tones as it's a bit pastel. It's one of my favorite pinks from the Maybelline Mattes.
Pink N Chic is a blue-based medium pink. It's lighter than Candy Yum Yum and is great for lighter skin tones.
Electric Pink is a blue-based hot pink. It's a darker version of Pink N Chic.
All Fired Up is a watermelon red. I don't always love reds but I do love watermelon reds. This is a bit darker than my usual watermelon red, but I still really like it. It doesn't get as much wear as it should. Mine is a bit hard to twist up and down, but it's the only Maybelline lipstick that has that problem.
Siren in Scarlet is a true red lipstick. I heavily debated between buying this one or Rich Ruby. I was worried that Rich Ruby would be too dark for me, so I got this one. I wish I'd gotten Rich Ruby instead. I think Rich Ruby would look a lot better with my skin tone.
Mesmerizing Magenta is a magenta color as the name would suggest. It was my first lipstick in the Matte collection. It was one of my go to colors last fall.
Vibrant Violet is a true purple, a bit of a darker shade. I really love this beautiful shade.
VIVID MATTE LIQUID
Pink Charge is a beautiful pink. I really like this product but others don't and I understand why. I really like the scent, I think it's pretty. I've heard a lot of people complaining that it's too strong. The lipstick has a nice, plush feeling on the lips. The feel reminds me a bit of the Maybelline Baby Skin. The color can separate a bit at the fine lines of the lips, but I don't think it's noticeable unless your really looking. When you press your lips together, it can result in looking a bit blotchy. This color is my latest obsession and I don't think that it's going anywhere.
COLORblur
I decided to buy two of these. A darker color, Partner in Crimson, and a lighter color, I'm Blushing. Partner in Crimson is probably the only red I've ever really liked. I think it looks good worn all over the lips and blurred out. I'm Blushing is nothing special. I have several pinks and I probably have one in this same shade. It doesn't look very good blurred out, I think it looks more like you ate something and need to reapply your lipstick than a fashion trend. They don't have a scent that I can detect. I find that these are a bit drying and can feel a little hard when your trying to apply them. They are also a bit expensive when you factor in price versus the amount of product you are getting.
BABY LIPS LIP GLOSS
Just a Glimmer is a clear gloss with pinkish-purple glitter. I really wanted to try this. I thought it would transform a few lipsticks and it reminded me a lot of the Bite Opal lip gloss. I didn't really like this, though I rarely ever like lip gloss. It's incredibly sticky and I don't find it particularly moisturizing.
SUPER STAY 14 HR LIPSTICK
Perpetual Peony is a light to medium pink lipstick with a bit of purple. I think it's a beautiful shade. This is my latest edition to my collection and I haven't even had a chance to wear it yet. I have a friend who really enjoys this formula and I'm looking forward to trying it. It has a candy-like scent that ignites a sense of nostalgia in me.
So there it is. A break-down of my entire Maybelline lip collection and my opinion on each and every thing.
