Sinful Colors Live in Color Land Collection

There are nine shades in this collection and I picked up three of them.  There are five that are described as a Porcelain Matte and four that are described as Sugar Crushin’.

Sinful Colors:  Cheshire China, She's Gone Matte, and Sweet Tooth

I purchased Cheshire China, Sweet Tooth, and She’s Gone Matte.  I bought Cheshire China and Sweet Tooth for a friend who’s birthday is coming up.

Cheshire China and A-Crush (on nails)

CHESHIRE CHINA
This shade is a beautiful matte blue that almost seems to have a touch of purple.  Cheshire China is beautiful but reminds me of a Sinful Colors shade that I already own.  A shade named A-Crush.  I love the color and thought about picking up one of these for myself too but it was too similar to A-Crush.

SWEET TOOTH
Sweet Tooth is described as being a red shade but I thought of it as more of a coral shade.  This has glitter in it as is suppose to dry to have a textured finish.  It reminds me of the Sally Hansen Sugar Coat.

Sinful Colors She's Gone Matte and Wet N Wild I Need a Refresh-Mint (original)
SHE’S GONE MATTE
This is a blue mint matte shade.  I love this color and this is the one I picked up for myself.  I bought it in hopes that it would be the same as my Wet N Wild I Need a Refresh-Mint.  The Wet N Wild shade was reworked and is now a darker shade.  She’s Gone Matte is the same as the original, the shade that I loved so much.

The Sugar Crushin’ shades include:

Sugar High - a dark blue shade
Sweetin the Teal - a dark green shade
Surreally Sweet - a pinkish purple shade
*Sweet Tooth

The Porcelain Matte shades include:

Glazy Sunday - a matte rose toned pink
We’re All Matte Here - a light orange shade
Mad Hatter - a matte baby pink, lighter than Glazy Sunday
*She’s Gone Matte
*Cheshire China

Wet N Wild 2016 Spring Collection Review

I have been loving the new Wet N Wild Spring Collection.  I picked up one of the finger nail polishes and both of the eyeshadow trios.  My restraint would make anyone proud.  I wanted all of the nail polishes and the lightest of those beautiful highlights.

Wet N Wild To In-Di-O I Go Go

To In-Di-O I Go Go
The eyelid shade is a beautiful sparkly blue.  I love this color, it’s probably my favorite.  The crease shade is a pastel purple with an extremely light amount of sparkle in it.  This crease shade requires a little bit of building up.  The browbone highlight is a pinky champagne color and has a beautiful sparkly shine.

Wet N Wild The New Romantics

The New Romantics
The eyelid shade is purple and almost seems like it has a blue duochrome shift in certain lights.  The crease color is a shimmery pink shade and this shade also seems to have small pieces of glitter.  The browbone shade is a white shimmery shade.

Wet N Wild To In-Di-O I Go Go
Wet N Wild The New Romantics

To In-Di-O I Go Go has a couple of glittery shades while the New Romantics is more of a shimmery palette.  The quality on all of these are really nice.  The eyeshadows are beautiful and soft.  I don’t think the camera captures how beautiful they truly are.  I put the blue over Nyx Milk.  I took the picture after a couple of hours (I had to charge my camera) and Milk always makes my eyeshadow fade.  Once upon a time, it had looked fantastic.

I also did a look with The New Romantics, I still had some of the blue eyeliner as it wouldn’t completely wash off.  I didn’t use milk with The New Romantics, so the eyeshadow lasted longer.

The nail polish I got was Kiss My Mints, and I adore the color.  A pastel mint color.  It was a little tedious to apply but once I finally got it on, I fell in love with the color.  If you’re really in love with pastels, then you’ll love these nail polishes.  There are four of them.  I only picked up one because I have so many nail polishes and they don’t get enough love from me.

Overall, I would recommend anything this collection.  Everything I tried was really nice and I’m sure everything I didn’t try was just as good quality.  Wet N Wild’s eyeshadows always impress me.  I’ve purchased a couple of the Megalast Nail Polishes before and they are some of my favorite inexpensive polishes.

Review of Sephora Patone Palette 2016 Modern Watercolors

The package is adorable and for a color lover like me, this palette is a must have.  Or so I thought.  Pastel eyeshadows never really work for me.  I could blame my pale skin, but I’m not sure this eyeshadow would work on darker skin tones.  These shadows all appear a little washed out on me, even with a base.

Sephora Pantone Universe Modern Watercolors Palette

I swatched all the colors but I don’t know that helps.  I just wish these eyeshadows were a little more pigmented.  There are some in here that I feel like should work and just don’t.  I made to example kind of eye looks.  They aren’t great, but most of my brushes are dirty and I didn’t put in any effort into the eye looks.  I just wanted you to get to see how these shadows worked in action.

Row 1:  Bright White, Rose Quartz, Honeydew, Cafe Creme, Mellow Yellow, and Ash

ROW 1
This row is more highlight type colors.

Bright White - This is a matte white color.  It’s on the sheer side.

Rose Quartz - This is a matte pastel pink.  It’s on the sheer side but I found that it went on easier than Bright White and Honeydew.

Honeydew - This is a matte pastel blue-mint.  I really had to build this one up.  I wore it with Nyx Milk as a base and it came off way too light.  I mixed it in with Cascade and it was still too light.  I tried using it wet and the shadow just turned hard.

Cafe Creme - This is a beautiful light shiny brown.  This has a really beautiful look to it.

Mellow Yellow - This is a shimmery yellow shade.  This shade only really works as a highlight shade.  It only gives you a slight shimmer and seems a little multidimensional.

Ash - This is a pastel gray.  It barely showed up by itself.  I used this over Nyx Milk in one of the examples.

Row 2:  Antique White, Mushroom, Pelican, Chinois Green, Cedar Wood, and Citadel

ROW 2

Antique White - This a shimmery white shade.  It reminds me of Mellow Yellow but is slightly more opaque.

Mushroom - This is a silver taupe shade, I almost felt like there was a bit of green in it.

Pelican - This shade is a duochrome light green with gold reflects.  This is the shade everyone is going nuts over.  I wore this over Nyx Milk and it came out really washed out.  I’m going to try a black base next time, but I’m worried it will look to muddy.  I can’t really seem to find a way to wear this that makes me love it.

Chinois Green - This is a dark forest green with a little bit of gold shimmer.  I feel like this is one of the ‘darker’ shades in this palette.

Cedar Wood - This is a brown shade.

Citadel - This is a sheer blue shimmer shade.  This would look beautiful over something else, but it doesn’t really work on it’s on.  I really didn’t feel like it showed up at all in the swatch but I used it in one of the examples.

Row 3:  Oyster Mushroom, Coral Haze, Pale Mauve, Cafe au Lait, Boa, Serenity

ROW 3

Oyster Mushroom - This is a light silver color.

Coral Haze - This is a pastel coral.

Pale Mauve - This is a purpley mauve.

Cafe au Lait - This is a shimmery brown shade.  This really reminds me of Pain au Chocolat by L’Oreal.

Boa - This is a shimmery green.

Serenity - This is a pastel blue.  I feel like this one shows up really well, especially compared to some of the other shades in this palette.

Row 4:  Fruit Dove, Orchid Haze, Cascade, Lantana, Linden Green, and Marina

ROW 4
These are all matte shades.

Fruit Dove - This is a pastel reddish-pink.

Orchid Haze - This is a pastel purple.

Cascade - This is a pastel mint shade, darker than Honeydew.

Lantana - This is a pastel orange.

Linden Green - This is a pastel yellow green.

Marina - This is a pastel darker blue.

Overall, I don’t think this palette is worth the $40 I spent on it.  The shadows just aren’t there.  It’s a cute palette and the colors look really pretty.  I’ve seen pastel eyeshadows done well, I’ve seen matte pastels done well.  But those are shadows that are hard to do and I don’t think they nailed it with this palette. The shadows tend to blend into one another or need a base that changes the color. I also feel like the colors don't have enough tonal range to really make a solid look.  I’d skip it if I were you.

Here are my two examples:

I used Ash over Nyx Milk and put Mellow Yellow on the brown bone just to see how it looked.

I used Citadel on the lid and Oyster Mushroom in the crease.

This is the shade I used as a base for the Citadel and Oyster Mushroom look.  It's from the Maybelline Smokes Quad.

Battle of the Tinted Lip Balms

I have a lip balm addiction.  I feel like I need to try them all and save my lips the pain of being dry and chapped.  A few years ago, I developed seriously chapped lips and I systematically tried every lip balm and tinted lip balm out there.  I amassed a collection of twelve tinted lip balms.  So, let’s talk lip balms.

Pink Lady
Brand:  NYC cosmetics Applelicious
Price:  $2.99
Scent:  Apple scent
Pigmentation:  3/5
Moisturization:  3/5
Pink Lady is a medium pink shade.  It gives an apparent color on the lips, but isn’t the strongest in color.  This gives nice moisturization in the beginning but that wears off quickly.  My lips begin to feel quite dry once the moisturization wears off.

Healthy Blush 20
Brand:  Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm
Price:  $8.99
Scent:  Cosmetic Scent
Pigmentation:  3/5
Moisturization:  5/5
The thing I hate about these if you have to judge the color based on a tiny picture in the top right-hand corner of the packaging.  I picked the one that looks the pinkest.  I didn’t find the lip balm’s color to match the picture and I think it looks quite red in real life.  The color is sheer.  A google search showed me that all of these Neutrogena lip balms basically look the same swatched.  The moisturization was amazing and lasted well.  I also think this has nice SPF.  If you like the color, I recommend these.

Petal Rebel
Brand:  Maybelline Color Whisper
Price:  $7.49
Scent:  Cosmetic-type Scent
Pigmentation:  5/5
Moisturization:  1/5
I absolutely love the color of this one and that has been proven time and time again.  However, the moisturization is terrible.  My lips feel nice for maybe a second and then my lips begin to feel extremely dry.  The result, I never reach for this.  The color of this Maybelline Whispers is overall a little on the sheer side (which is common in lip balms and to be expected with a name like Whispers).  The scent is a little strange.  It isn’t strong, but I don’t particularly care for it.  It is unique, I’m not sure I’ve ever smelt anything like it before.

Pink Plush
Brand:  L’Oreal Colour Riche Balm
Price:  $7.95
Scent:  L’Oreal Lip Product Scent
Pigmentation:  1/5
Moisturization:  4/5
I believe this one was actually discontinued but I do understand why.  This color didn’t really show up at all.  In my search for the perfect baby pink, I picked this up.  This brand is still available though perhaps not that easy to find.  The moisturization is really nice.

Cotton Pink
Brand:  L’Oreal Colour Riche Balm
Price:  $7.95
Scent:  L’Oreal Lip Product Scent
Pigmentation:  1/5
Moisturization:  4/5
Cotton Pink is slightly darker than Pink Plush.  The pigmentation on this one could be better and I think this one was also discontinued.  I know this one has received some love from the internet.  This is sheer but still has nice moisturization.

102 Sugar
Brand:  Wet N Wild Natural Blend Lip Shimmer
Price:  $1.99
Scent:  Mint
Pigmentation: 4/5
Moisturization:  5/5
Sugar is a shimmery pink lip balm.  This is quite tinted for a lip balm and the moisturization is really nice.  This is probably my most worn lip balm.  I also like the fact that this are advertised as all natural.

104 Tart
Brand:  Wet N Wild Natural Blend Lip Shimmer
Price:  $1.99
Scent:  Mint
Pigmentation:  4/5
Moisturization:  5/5
Tart is a shimmery mid-toned pink or pinkish-red shade.  This one is more warm toned than Sugar and would probably look better on darker skin tones than mine.  Tart is really nice in pigmentation and moisturization.

106 Berry
Brand:  Wet N Wild Natural Blend Lip Shimmer
Price:  $1.99
Scent:  Mint
Pigmentation:  4/5
Moisturization:  5/5
Berry is a nice berry red.  Contrary to advertising, this shade isn’t shimmery at all, but is shiney.  These Natural Blend lip balms are some of my favorite as you don’t have to sacrifice moisturization or pigmentation.  I highly recommend these.  I do think the mint scent is a little too strong.

Darling
Brand:  Revlon Balm Stain
Price:  $6.59
Scent:  Mint
Pigmentation:  2/5
Moisturization:  5/5
This is a light purple shade, but it looks a little sheer.  I really like this one.  It’s a great sheer color with great moisturization.  It was unfortunately discontinued.  I also don’t find this one to stain your lips.

Cherish
Brand:  Revlon Balm Stain
Price:  $6.59
Scent:  Mint
Pigmentation:  5/5
Moisturization:  5/5
Cherish is a pretty light pink  The pigmentation is incredible, especially for a lip balm.  This one does leave behind a stain when you remove it and the stain is relatively pretty.

Coquette
Brand:  Revlon Lacquer Balm
Price:  $6.59
Scent:  Mint
Pigmentation:  5/5
Moisturization:  5/5
This is a medium pink.  There are bits of glitter in it but I don’t think that really shows up on the lips and I don’t find this to be anymore shiney (or lacquery) than the regular ones.  However, this one is pretty, pigmented, and moisturizing.  I don’t recall this leaving behind a stain on the lips.

Cupcake
Brand:  Revlon Lip Butter
Price:  $5.99
Scent:  Nothing I Notice
Pigmentation:  5/5
Moisturization:  5/5
This is an extremely pale pink.  It’s the color Pink Plush would be if Pink Plush actually showed up on the lips.  A lot of these lip butters were discontinued, including this one.  I really like this one’s amazing moisturization, but the color is way too pale for me.  This shade is too pale for me, and I’m extremely pale myself.  This shade makes me look dead.  The pigmentation is fantastic, but I’m not sure anyone could pull this off.

Indoor Lighting
First Row:  Pink Lady, Pink Plush, Cotton Pink, Petal Rebel, Healthy Blush
Second Row:  Cupcake, Darling, Cherish, Coquette, Sugar
Third Row:  Tart and Berry
Outdoor Lighting
First Row:  Pink Lady, Pink Plush, Cotton Pink, Petal Rebel, Healthy Blush
Second Row:  Cupcake, Darling, Cherish, Coquette, Sugar
Third Row:  Tart and Berry

If you’re looking for a good/affordable lip balm, I’d recommend Carmex or Soft Lips.  I like alternating between the two because I’ve heard your lips can become use to a particular one and it can stop working.

If you’re looking for a good tinted lip balm, I recommend any of the Revlon ones or the Wet N Wild.  They are the best of my mini-collection.  The Wet N Wild’s are less expensive but their are also less color options.  The Revlon Lip Butter, is the most moisturizing of them all.
